Notice Of Bond Release
Permit #807-7036

In accordance with the provisions of KRS:350, notice is hereby given that Ferroglobe USA Mining LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap PKWY, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701, has filled for a Phase I, II & III Bond Release on Permit #807-7036, which was last issued on 09/18/2024. The application covers an area of approximately 24.70 acres of which 24.70 acres were disturbed of Increment 4. The area is located approximately located 0.5 miles northwest of the community of Shillalah in Bell County.

The operation is approximately 0.35 miles northwest from KY 217’s junction with KY 1344. The operation is located on the Middlesboro North and Varilla U.S.G.S. 7½ minute quadrangle maps.

The total bond now in effect for this permit is a surety bond in the amount of Seventy-Five Thousand dollars ($75,000) of which approximately 100% of the original bond amount of $75,000 is included in this application for release.

Reclamation work performed includes backfilling, re-grading, topsoil replacement, and drainage control including soil preparation and initial seeding and mulching in accordance with the approved reclamation plan, completed in the spring of 2021

Written comments, objections, and requests for a public hearing of informal conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Field Services, 300 Sower Boulevard, Frankfort, KY 40601, by May 15, 2026.

A public hearing on the application has been scheduled for May 18, 2026, at 9:00 am at the Department for Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement’s Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, KY 40965-1229. The hearing will be cancelled if no request for a hearing or informal conference is received by May 15, 2026.
