OF COAL MINING RENEWAL APPLICATION
Kopper Glo Mining, LLC, 144E Market Place Blvd. Knoxville, Tennessee 37922 has submitted to the Office of Surface Mining (OSM) an application to renew permit number 3229. This application is available for public review at the Claiborne County Courthouse between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and the application and the permit are available for public review at the OSM Knoxville Field Office between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Eastern Time. During this public review period, from January 25, 2023 to March 17, 2023, OSM will accept written comments, objections, or requests for an informal conference relative to this application. Any person having an interest, which is or may be adversely affected by the decision on the application, may make such written comments during the public review period. Persons requesting an informal conference will provide the information specified in 30 CFR 773.6(c). Written comments and requests for an informal conference are to be submitted to the OSM Knoxville Field Office, Technical Group, John J. Duncan Federal Building, 710 Locust Street, Second Floor, Knoxville, Tennessee 37902. In making comments, refer to the permit number.
The Double Mountain Mine site is located on Double Mountain in Claiborne County at latitude 36° 31’ 39” N and longitude -83° 51’ 21” W on the Fork Ridge 7.5’ Quadrangle map. The site is located approximately 5.8 miles from the intersection of Rock Creek Road with Rich Mountain Road in an easterly direction. The affected area of the face up drains into Spruce Lick of Tackett Creek.
